Piers Kwan

  • StrongFirst Certified Senior Instructor, StrongFirst Elite

  • Original Strength Master Instructor

  • GMB Trainer

  • Several other very exciting things

In 2010, Piers became a certified hardstyle kettlebell instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline. He started with RKC and now represents StrongFirst. He learns and teaches with Tim Anderson and the Original Strength team.

Piers currently enjoys pickleball, delving excessively deeply into random interests, and hanging out with his lovely wife and three fantastic daughters.

Erin Haske

  • StrongFirst Level 2 Instructor

  • Exercise Physiologist

Erin is very meticulous about how people move and she’ll be the first to tell you that when she was looking for a gym to get serious about her kettlebell journey, she wanted a gym that was equally picky about movement, technique, and safety.

By her own admission, Erin is our ‘American chick’ getting around the gym providing suggestions to help people move better. She is an Exercise Physiologist with a bunch of letters after her name (kind of somewhere between a physio and a personal trainer).

She loves dogs and appreciates a great coffee, which is probably why she’s such a great fit in our gym. Erin loves coaching and admits that this ‘gym for nerds’ feels like home!

Matt Aldous

  • StrongFirst Level I Instructor

Matt first fell in love with KB's back in 2012/13 training with Piers. He has been certified under the StrongFirst system since late 2013 and attended the SFG Level 1 certification 3 times now. Why?! Because he loves it! He learns new tools and tips about training and himself each and every time. It’s also get to meet a bunch of great people and watch the community grow.

Matt is passionate & excited about the training we do at QKB and loves helping others along on their journey. ‘I love the confidence and resilience that strength training has added to my life outside the gym and want to share that with others who want to learn.’

Juha Kankaanpaa

  • StrongFirst Level I Instructor

  • Certified Original Strength Professional

Juha is originally from Finland but has been in Australia for almost 20 years. Pursuing a passion for movement and exercise, he came to QKB initially seeking to build upon the kettlebell foundation he had established.

He enjoys a diverse range of interests and regularly sets goals outside his comfort zone to work towards, whether that is running an ultra-marathon, furthering his skills with StrongFirst and Original Strength, or studying mathematics. In his own words, “I’m an introvert but love to be part of the QKB community where I feel accepted and appreciated.”

Outside the gym he enjoys long walks with his wife Mari and their dog Tinto, (and we are super-pleased that Mari and Tinto are very regular faces at QKB as well!).

Barry Doolan

  • StrongFirst Level I Instructor (2017 - 2023)

  • Certified Original Strength Professional

Barry came to QKB in 2017 and certified as an SFG1 (StrongFirst Level I Instructor) later that same year, followed by successfully certifying as an Original Strength Professional in 2018.

With a significant background teaching martial arts and yoga, he enjoys exploring movement and unconventional strength training systems from around the world and often marvels at the common threads that run through the many systems to which he has been exposed.

You’ll often find Barry assisting at our Beginner Workshops where he delights in the progress that attendees can make in a few short hours.
